April 2017 – Cronan’s Garden Progress

This year the Garden in Cronan’s field is more established.

Alongside the raised beds and other beds of vegetables and fruit we have planted a  living willow arch to establish a welcoming entrance into the garden. The willow was cut from the Sally Gardens across the road.

Members of the community ventured into the mud to find the best willow branches for the job, others dug trenches and filled them with manure and the willow was planted and woven together to form an archway where paths meet.

We will post a further photo as the willow takes root and starts to sprout. Eventually we imagine a green walkway bringing our visitors into the heart of the garden while creating some welcome shade.
